Thank you to our newest clients, Michael and Mimi for choosing A Plus Limos for their wedding limo needs. In keeping with Chinese tradition, the Groom comes to the bride’s home with offerings of food. Next, we took the wedding party on a playful trip to San Diego’s Balboa Park.

Friends Gather For a Brewery Tour in America’s Finest Beer City
When friends, who also happen to be nationally known beer experts gather for beer tour they trust A Plus Limos to choose breweries well. Back in August 2014 a group of Beer Bloggers came to San Diego for a blogger’s conference and we took them on a brewery tour including well-established breweries and up-and-comers.
Michael Puente and Robert Vega were the hosts.
The first stop was Societe in Kearny Mesa which is well know for their Belgians and their IPAs.
Our second stop was at White Labs, the world’s most trusted supplier of brewer’s yeast to the craft beer industry. Here, I thought these guys were gonna loose their minds like kids on Christmas day!
Our third stop was at Alesmith, one of San Diego’s most sophisticated breweries known for their deep, complex brews and their well appointed trophy case.
Our fourth stop was at Council Brewing, an up an coming brewery that is getting more buzz than just about any new brewery in the San Diego market.
The last stop of the night was at my personal favorite, Benchmark Brewing in Grantville near Kaiser Hospital and the Old San Diego Mission. Benchmark is known for their ability to brew sessionable beers (low alcohol) with all the flavor of a higher alcohol beer.
Balboa Park December Nights Guide
San Diego’s Holiday Tradition Turns 37
Friday and Saturday December 5th and 6th
Formerly known as Christmas on the Prado, December Nights is now in its thirty sixth year of bringing thousands of San Diegans to our beloved Balboa Park. Organizers expect more than 350,000 people to attend this year’s two day event. To put that number in perspective, Qualcomm Stadium has a capacity of 71,000 people. While 350,000 people might seem like an impossible number, rest assured the organizers are well, um organized and they make this a fantastic event not to be missed. However, parking is a problem, so please take public transportation (or a limo!).
Many of the museums, but not all will be open and with free admission from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM. There’ll be a ton of food vendors and midway-style carnival games so you won’t go hungry or wanting for activities. Street fair type craft booths, live music concerts and dance performances will grace the Organ Pavilion. Cottages at the Houses of Hospitality will be open with each cottage displaying their respective country’s holiday traditions.
There’s a few off-the-beaten path venues you don’t want to miss including Centro Cultural de la Raza (Mexican Cultural Center) and the World Beat Center both located on Park Ave across from the old Navy Hospital. Spanish Village artists studios in the NorthEast corner of the park near the zoo, and San Diego Junior Theatre.
I’m not sure if they have a craft beer garden. If not, maybe you and I should open one!
Jazmin’s North County Quinceanera
The Cossio Family of San Marcos, California is blessed with five beautiful daughters. On Sunday, November 23 2014 it was our pleasure to provide luxury limousine service for Jasmin’s quinceanera. The Cossio family is well known to A Plus Limos because we’ve already provided a quinceanera limo for the three older Cassio ladies, Jacuelin in 2007, Aimee in 2009 and Giselle in 2013. We look forward to little Elizabeth’s quince in 2021!
However, this was Jazmin’s day. She and her family celebrated with a church service on Sunday November 22nd. Then on Sunday came the party and dinner. Our best, most experienced chauffeur, Mr. Robert Vega picked up Jasmin, her friends and sisters at the family home in San Marcos. The group decided to go to San Elijo Park in the San Elijo Hills area for photos and a little fun.
Next it was off to Oceanside Pier for more photos and a little cruising. Sunset was nearing, a beautiful San Diego North County day was ending but the celebration of Jazmin’s Quince had not yet begun.
In the big, elegant Cadillac Escalade limo, Mr. Robert Vega whisked the group off to the inland city of Escondido California for dinner and fun at Mi Guadalajara Mexican restaurant.
Thank you to the Cossio family for trusting A Plus Limos with your most precious cargo.
We look forward to serving Miss. Janlin Pina in 2015.
Fatima’s San Diego Quinceanera
Quinceanera is a Mexican tradition celebrating a girl’s 15th birthday marking the transition from childhood to womanhood. On her 15th birthday, as tradition goes, the young woman is presented to society and available for marriage. Today, the quinceanra still remains an important date in the life a young Latina.
On Sunday, November 16 2014 we had the pleasure of providing luxury limousine transportation for Fatima’s quinceanera. With much gratitude to Jorge, Padrino de el limosina. “Padrino” translates to “Godfather” in English. Padrinos help defray the high cost of a quinceanera paying for various expenses. There can be Padrinos for the church, the bible, the cake, music, hall rental, dress, hairpiece, etc.
The day began with a gathering of family and friends for a small service at the family home. Next, Fatima, her Chambelanos and Damas jumped into the big Hummer limousine and their chauffeur Robert whisked them away to the Coronado ferry landing for photos. After photos and brief fun in Coronado, the group decided to cruise though downtown San Diego and Balboa Park. Then, it was off to the reception at Marina Village on beautiful Mission Bay.
Thank you, Fatima, Padrino Jorge and family. It was our pleasure to serve you. Quinceanera limo service in San Diego. Quinceanera limo service in San Diego.

Beware of Limo Brokering (Middlemen)
Many so-called limousine companies are not really limo companies at all. They are limousine brokers. Limousine brokers do not have any limos, they only have a website, yellowpages or newspaper ad. They answer the phone and book your limousine order. Next, they begin contacting other San Diego limo companies (that actually own limousines) and try to hire them at a discounted rate keeping the difference as profit. The problem arises when:
- the limo company (the one with cars) gets a higher price from someone else for your limo on your night, or
- the broker or limo company over books/double books clients, or
- the broker farms out the job to a low quality limo service with old, beat up limos and inexperienced drivers.
The complaints we hear are consistent. Here are a list of the most popular:
- They showed up an hour late.
- The limo broke down.
- The limo was old, dirty, with dents and torn upholstery.
- The driver tried to extort money out of us to drive us back home.
- The TV, CD player and air-conditioning didn’t work on a hot summer day.
- The driver didn’t know where he was going.
- The driver was rude. He was dressed too casual. He was wearing street clothes.
- The limo showed up with another party already in our limo.
- They wanted a 50% non-refundable deposit.
- When I called to complain they hung up on me.
- They lied to me.
- The driver yelled at me.
- The so-called “limo bus” was actually a converted school bus.
Most limousine companies broker when their own limousines are booked. At A Plus San Diego Limo Service, WE NEVER ENGAGE IN BROKERING, PERIOD. Read the horror stories here:

When You Trust The Wrong Limo Company
In our opinion you should avoid limo brokers and limo companies that broker. Your family, friends, company and clients are depending on you to get it right. Look what happened to these customers when they trusted the wrong company:
Does that first photo look familiar? It should. It’s B Street in San Diego. Imagine your wedding day being ruined by an inexperienced driver. Inexperienced limo drivers tend to panic when they get stuck and try to “power through it” to un-stick the limousine, but that NEVER works. They only succeed in wedging the limo in tighter until the drive wheels begin to spin and smoke. None of these limousines will get out of these situations without the help of a large commercial tow truck. Furthermore, it would be unwise to put these limos back on the road without a full safety inspection.
Licensing, Bonding, Drug Testing
The State of California licenses all “livery” services in the State. We must prove to the California Public Utilities Commission (PUC) that we are fully bonded, and that our drivers submit to random drug testing. The State of California then issues a TCP License.
The license number (called the TCP) should appear on the website, and must appear on the vehicle that arrives to pick you up. Never book with a limo company that can’t promptly show you its license and bond. You can see our licence and bond document here:
Or you can see a copy of our license online here. Be sure to enter A PLUS LIMOUSINE SERVICES INC in the Carrier Name / DBA field.
Sometimes the California PUC performs surprise audits at Opening Day of the Del Mar Race Track. A Plus Limos always passes the audit with flying colors! Some limo companies, operating without the proper license and/or bond, have their cars towed way by the State.
Mechanical Maintenance, Cleanliness, Amenities, Appearance
Not all limo companies care for their vehicles like A Plus Limos. We frequently hear stories from customers of other limo services about flat tires, limos that are old, dirty and smelly, with broken TVs, broken radios, no cups, rude drivers, etc. At A Plus Limo, we regularly inspect our limos and attend to every detail to assure your satisfaction. All of our drivers are hand-picked, long-term employees dedicated to your prefect, care-free event.
Limo Rental Tips
When shopping and comparing limo services providers be sure to ask:
- Are you a licensed livery in the State of California?
- Are you insured?
- Are you bonded?
- Do you ever broker cars or accept jobs from brokers?
- Can you show me the exact limo that I will be renting?
